About Us
The Hard Knox Roller Girls is an all female flat track roller derby league located in Knoxville, TN. Founded in January 2006, the Hard Knox Roller Girls includes women representing all walks of life-from students to mothers to wives and everything in between-yet all maintain the same underlying spirit: that of a Warrior, a Woman, and a Winner.
As an aspiring WFTDA league, we are a non-profit organization that is skater owned and operated. The women of HKRG can be seen all over Knoxville and the surrounding areas supporting their communities and league through fundraising events, bouts, and so much more!
HKRG's Mission
Our mission is to provide recreational amateur athletic entertainment that improves member’s individual athletic ability, self-discipline and character while promoting the sport of roller derby. Our program provides regular supervised training, instruction, and competition to preparing our members to represent Knoxville at a national level. We are dedicated to providing community outreach through events, activities, and charity sponsorship. We are also advocates for similar roller derby leagues to encourage the art and sport of roller derby nationally and internationally.
About the WFTDA
Founded in 2004, the WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association) promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat track derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship, and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy is "by the skaters, for the skaters." Women skaters are primary owners, managers, and operators of each member league and of the association. Operational tasks include setting standards for rules, seasons, and safety, and determining guidelines for the national and international athletic competitions of member leagues. All member leagues have a voice in the decision-making process, and agree to comply with the governing body's policies. Women’s Flat Track Derby Association
